We have all heard this term, but what is it and how to we avoid it.
Simply stated, MRSA or Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus is a very serious bacterial infection that is extremely difficult to treat.
We have all heard how bacteria can mutate, and MRSA is a result of a supercharged mutation. We all carry somewhat benign types of staph infections in our bodies, but our body’s immune system comfortably handles these. Sin embargo, if our immune system is low, and we are exposed to a MRSA bacterium, we have a serious problem. How do we avoid MRSA? There are several steps we can take. These include practicing excellent hand and body hygiene….wash you hands regularly and do a good job of it each time. Keep cuts, scrapes and wounds clean and covered until healed and avoid sharing personal items such towels and razors, etc. Most importantly, when you see what you feel to be an infection, seek medical assistance immediately.
