We always knew a regular diet of French Fries was not good for you. Now we have some proof! A recent study by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition confirms the risk.
The study analyzed the potato consumption of 4,440 Americans aged 45 to 79 over an eight-year period. The study included “both fried (French Fries) and un-fried potato products and then used the data to trace links between potato consumption and mortality”
The results are in… adjusting for factors such as education, race, income, alcohol consumption and exercise the “researchers concluded that people who eat French fries more than twice a week are doomed. Doomed!”
Well, not quite…but they did say people who ate fried potatoes two or more times a week “were at an increased risk of mortality”. In fact, frequent fried potato eaters more than doubled their risk of premature death.
And, the good news…” the consumption of un-fried potatoes was not associated with an increased mortality risk”.
We need to point out, people who are regular consumers of fried potatoes are likely to also have other unhealthy eating habits.
We should all strive to eat healthy, and a regular diet that frequently includes French Fries is not healthy.
