So you want to exercise and get in shape and haven’t done anything for years? It’s not too late, but a few precautions are necessary. First, if you have any health concerns, see your doctor before you begin. Better safe than sorry.
A good strategy is to begin by simply taking a good walk. A fifteen minute walk three times a week and gradually adding time, days, or both.
The first five minutes simply walk at a moderate pace. Follow this warm-up period by walking briskly for five minutes and your heart will reach its target zone. Slow the pace for the final five minutes cool-down period.
Once you can do this routine, increase the time spent walking briskly by 2-5 minutes and gradually increase your time until you are walking for 30-60 minutes.
We highly recommend you schedule your time to be sure you fit it in to your busy schedule. Early mornings before you begin your day are best.
Enjoy!
