The Florida Department of Health reports a total of 968 cases of the Zika virus that range from 716 of these infections from travel related to a Zika area, and only 16 for out of state residents who had not traveled to a known risk area of the state. The higher risk pregnant women have risen to 99 of the 968 total.
Florida’s main exposure continues to be confined to the high-risk area of Miami-Dade County and significant resources have been directed to that area.
The health department continues to urge Floridians to drain standing water where the mosquito’s breed, wear long sleeve shirts and blouses and use repellents when outdoors.
